Your Rhythm comes from the Heart

Two voices, a guitar and the unmistakable Tyrolean dialect: that is Romana and Eva's recipe for musical success. With their duo ‘Hand aufs Herz’, the two have become an insider tip for honest and soulful music.

Hand on heart - honest and soulful music from Tyrol

Romana and Eva are “true Tyroleans”, as they say themselves. Both experienced a sheltered childhood in Hopfgarten in Brixental Valley, where nature, community and music were closely interwoven. “We grew up with siblings, parents and grandparents, surrounded by mountains and lots of tradition,” says Romana. “Music played an important role from an early age, be it through recorder lessons, playing the saxophone and guitar or performing together in the children's choir. Music has always been part of our everyday lives.”

Eva was particularly influenced by family life in the inn that her parents ran: “We children practically experienced our first performances there, the guests were our audience and the serving trolley served as our stage.” Music and singing were also always present at family celebrations or spontaneous evenings in the restaurant. These experiences shaped their passion for making music together. More than ten years ago, after a first successful performance at a wedding, the two decided to join forces.

Authenticity with dialect

With their duo “Hand aufs Herz”, Romana and Eva have since performed at a wide variety of events - from weddings to Advent markets and large stage appearances. One highlight was their role as the opening act for the well-known Swiss musicians “Fäaschtbänkler”. Their style is strongly influenced by their origins: “We draw on a varied repertoire of Austrian, German and international songs, but we really feel at home in the Tyrolean dialect.” That's why all the songs they arrange themselves are also sung in dialect. “That's what we feel most comfortable with, and it also goes down best with people. We have to stand behind what we do 100 percent - it's the only way to be authentic.”

The musicians attach great importance to their songs evoking special emotions. This is particularly noticeable at weddings: “When the bride and groom enter the room and we play our first notes accompanied by Romana's guitar, it's always a goosebump moment - as if a vacuum is created and you only live for the here and now,” says Eva, describing this unique feeling that only music can evoke. “What happens to people in a moment like that cannot be explained physically.”

A sense of home

Romana and Eva associate their music closely with their homeland. Their song “Dahoam is just a feeling” describes how deep their roots in Hopfgarten go. “For us, home is not just a place, but a feeling. It's the fresh spring water, the view of the unique mountain landscape, coming home.” At the same time, their openness towards other cultures is also part of their identity. Thanks to the lively tourism in the region, they came into contact with people of different languages and cultures at an early age. “Change is never bad, you should see it in a positive light,” says Romana.

Balance between tradition and innovation

Although both prefer creating music in their dialect, they don’t limit themselves. “We like to try out different things and don’t set any boundaries,” Eva explains. The musicians are also open to technologies like artificial intelligence. “AI can serve as a source of inspiration or a helpful tool for sparking ideas. But human emotion and its personal touch will always remain irreplaceable,” Eva is convinced.

A glimpse into the future

Music is and remains an integral part of Romana and Eva's lives, but both emphasize that they would also like to pursue other paths. “We don't have a fixed goal. The important thing is that we feel good and enjoy what we do,” says Eva. Romana adds: “If we enjoy something, people will enjoy it too. We trust that.” And so their songs are ultimately a feeling that lasts.
